Genetics

Justamere 253 Next Step 113R

Our goal at KFC is to produce and maintain a profound cowherd exemplifying the strong maternal traits of the Aberdeen Angus. They need to be efficient mothers that can produce 50% of their body weight by fall each year, and continue to come in calf for at least 10-14 years of age. We produce thick muscle, moderate frame cattle that are easy doing in a vast array of climatic conditions. Our herdsires are chosen with this in mind.

Justamere 253 Next Step 113R was the Grand Champion Bull at the Angus Gold Show in Olds, Alberta.

Introducing the KFC herdsires:

Justamere 253 Next Step 113R
Reserve Champion Bull - Canadian Western Agribition 2006
Next Step is co-owned with Justamere Ranch and NBA. The possibilities from the planned matings with Next Step have us very excited. His moderate frame and potential to maximize performance out of our key females, along with the extra muscle and maternal strengths will add value to our herd. We are very pleased to consign the first daughter ever out of Next Step, to the Northern Highlights sale this fall.
KFC113R Andee 7311 is a pretty little female that deserves an appraisal. She is a femine, long bodied heifer with loads of growth potential and is by now showing udder development.

Crowfoot 5768
His genetics go back to Traveler 6807 - who gained his notoriety as the "cow making bull"
He is sound on his feet, structurally correct, phonetically eye appealing and his full sib sisters are very good females- moderate frame with good udders, very much in keeping with the goals of the ranch.

Hillfire Legacy
Maternal brothers are used to keep breeding program tight. We are breeding for females that produce thick muscle, moderate frame are efficient and fluid locomotion.

Royal Traveler DRCC4129
Alberta Traveler 416 son out of Rally Katinka - Below breed average birth weight, and at least breed average yearling weight. His offspring are consistent and predictable.
Commercial cattlemen use Angus cows for the basis of their cowherd - We believe we are producing replacement genetics to suit the commercial industries needs. Bulls are required to produce moderate birth weight calves without hindering the weight performance at weaning time.
