About KFC Farms
KFC FARMS LTD. is located in Cache Creek BC, one hour west
of Kamloops and 4 hours north of Vancouver. The mountainous terrain
and hillsides full of bunch grass make the perfect countryside for
raising hardy Aberdeen Angus cattle. The ranch's elevation varies
from 3200 to 9000 feet and the terrain varies from beautiful rolling
hills covered in bunch grass to alpine tree covered mountain sides.
KFC Farms was founded by Ken & Judy Friesen in the
early 1980's. Since conception KFC Farms goal has been to produce
quality Angus cattle. Over the past two and a half decades many
aspects of the farming and the cattle industry have changed, but
the goal still remains the same.
We believe that if you want cattle to work in BC's
extreme environment and not lose crucial adjustment time, they must
be raised under the correct conditions. At KFC the purebred cattle
are treated very similar to our commercial cattle. In the spring
the calves are drug to the fire at branding and then turned out
onto the range with their mothers until fall. At weaning time every
calf is weighed and carefully examined for conformation. Only the
top 30% of bull calves make the bull pens, the remaining calves
are castrated and shipped with the commercial calves to Valley Auctions.
The cow herd is turned back onto the lower bunch grass fall pastures
until late December when they will be fed dry hay.
All calves at KFC Farms are vaccinated in conjunction
with the Pfizer Gold program at branding time and re immunized at
weaning time along with an internal and external parasite control.
This program has been very effective with the commercial calves
raised at KFC. Customers have been very happy with the reduced treatment
level of all calves on feed from the Ranch compared to other calves.
Please feel free to contact us for more information
about our Angus or commercial programs.

Ken Friesen, Owner
Ken's passion for the cattle industry began in the late 70's. Strong
values and work ethics were instilled at an early age growing up
on a farm near Abbotsford, BC. He was an astute member in 4-H and
Junior Hereford Association, winning scholarships and was awarded
the highest judging honors at national levels. Since then his professional
business savvy has rewarded him with the ownership and management
of several successful, diverse business entities including KFC Farms
at Cache Creek, BC.
Ken's love in the cattle business has been Aberdeen Angus and he
has been a stalwart of that breed since he first invested his time,
money and energy into it two and half decades ago. Several Angus
herds were researched and purchased over the past few years as a
base to build a sound herd of structurally correct and genetic leaders
for the purebred beef industry today. As an ideal complement to
the purebred herd, KFC has an extensive commercial operation utilizing
the best of the Angus genes to ensure a sound phenotypic brood cow
while concentrating on economical and desirable genetic traits.
Ken has a strong belief in the people that work along side him and
is a true believer in the importance of the future of the cattle
industry and stewardship of our precious environment.
